Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know which motor oil is right for my vehicle?
Always check your vehicle’s owner manual or service sticker for the correct oil grade and viscosity. Most petrol engines use a different grade than diesel, and synthetic blends can improve performance and engine life. Environmental conditions, like high heat or frequent stop-start driving, may also affect which oil is best. If you're unsure, your local parts supplier can help match the right product to your vehicle.
Can I mix different brands or types of oil?
It’s generally safe to mix similar types of oil (e.g. synthetic with synthetic), but mixing different grades or formulas is not recommended. For example, combining mineral oil with synthetic may reduce performance or create sludge buildup over time. If you need to top up in an emergency, it's better than running low, but ideally, you should drain and replace the oil with a single type during your next service.
How often should grease points be serviced on machinery?
It depends on the type of equipment and how it's used, but most machinery should be greased every 10 to 50 operating hours. High-load or high-speed components may require more frequent servicing. Failing to grease regularly can lead to bearing failure, component wear and reduced efficiency. Always clean old grease and dirt away before reapplying to ensure proper lubrication and seal integrity.
