What size compressor do I need for my workshop?
It depends on what you’re running. For occasional tyre inflation or low-demand tools, a smaller unit around 40–60 litres may do the job. For spraying, rattle guns or continuous air use, go for a larger tank with higher CFM output. Consider the duty cycle, motor type and power supply. Belt-driven models are quieter and better for long use. Always choose a compressor with some capacity above your tool's peak demand.
Can I use a generator to power a welder or compressor?
Yes, but make sure the generator’s output matches the startup and running loads of your equipment. Welders, especially MIG or stick types, need high surge capacity, while compressors can also draw heavy power during startup. Look for generators with AVR (automatic voltage regulation) and a rating higher than the peak draw of your tool. What’s the difference between manual and air-operated grease guns?
